Hello! Our office has received your concern. Animal Services does not handle insect concerns. Is the tree on the property of someone's home? Or is it in a public area?
If it is on someone's property, the home owner must contact a bee removal service.
If it is on public property, our Parks department will address the situation. I am reassigning to Parks for the time being to investigate, but if it is on private property it is ultimately up to the home owner to hire a contractor to address the issue.
The Farmers Branch Parks and Recreation Division has received your concern(s), and the information I have is that the bee hive is probably on the move and has only stopped for a rest. They should move soon. Feel free to call me if you have any questions. Ben Solis (214) 924-7367. You will receive an update from our office as soon as one is available.
We have cones around the tree where the bees are resting. This is the Home Owners Association’s area of responsibility. The bees are in what is called “in transit”, and should be moving on in a couple of days.
Your concern(s) has been investigated and were observed on the referenced property. Although this was a Homeowners Association issue, we did place cones around the tree to protect the public. The beehive has completed their rest stop and has moved on. Rest assured that our team is working diligently to keep Farmers Branch a safe and pleasant place to live, work, and play.
