Description
This house is a rental. The renters have a large dog (part hound dog) that has access to the backyard at all times due to doggie door from bank of house. Renter leaves often with barking dog having access to yard anytime of day or night. This dog howls and barks in the backyard almost everyday, for hours at a time, with zero supervision from dog's owner. This dog barks at all hours of day and night, even when it appears owner(s) may be home because there's a light on the back patio and a car parked adjacent to house on Coleman right of way. This barking issue has persisted for at least the past 4-5 months.

Thanks for bringing this concern to our attention. The owners of the canine in question would be within the law having a "doggie door" access point in and out of the home. This is one of the preferred methods of providing shelter. Weather the residents of this property are renters or not is of no concern to us here at Animal Services. We will need additional information to process this request. Your name, phone number, address, and address where the problem is. You can also reach us at 256-883-3788. Our procedure for how barking calls work is as follows; With the necessary information provided, we will only respond to two complaints within a year's time. Upon the third complaint, you will be required to contact the magistrate's office and provide proof of said violation. If the necessary information is not provided to HAS dispatch, we will only dispatch a unit to sit and listen for barking near the provided address. It will be the officer’s discretion at this point on how they choose to pursue the matter. We hope you find this information helpful. As of (3/15/24), we have not received the necessary information from you. At this time, an officer will respond to the concern by conducting a “sit and listen”. This means that they will listen out for excessive barking near the provided address. The officer will be in the area for 15-30 minutes. If no barking is heard or the officer cannot determine where the barking is coming from, the complaint will be closed out. Once again, thank you for your concern.
