The sign has gone missing again

It has been six days since the pedestrian crossing sign last disappeared.
Although it had only been here for a few weeks before it disappeared, it made this crossing much easier as cars seemed to be on the lookout for and willing to yield to pedestrians.
Why has it not been replaced? If a traffic light were out, it would be resolved within hours. This is a much simpler fix: just drive by and drop a sign in the street. It feels like the city doesn't care about pedestrians.

There needs to be more done than a sign that can be moved at whim. Wooster Square is full of speeding, commuting traffic. Whoever designed the highway entrance plans had no care for neighborhood safety.

Adak, blame the same people who inserted Interstate 91 and Interstate 95 a couple of blocks from Wooster Square, diminishing property values, destroying a big portion of a historic neighborhood (and its history), and generating tremendous amounts of traffic. The same traffic issue affects Olive, Water, Grand, etc.: people who live in the suburbs stopping at nothing to get out of New Haven come end of the work day.
Suggestions, anybody?

I do blame then! I think most highway traffic should be directed toward Water St via State Street. Olive and Wooster St are not onramps to highways. They are narrow roads full of tourists and neighborhood walkers.

Now its almost 3 weeks since the sign last disappeared. When will it be replaced?

Another two weeks, and still no replacement. Could the city please respond?

I also wondered what happened to this sign. I thought maybe it was just a pilot to see how it worked. I loved it because I live right on Chapel and face danger every day trying to get across that street. Drivers do not respect that it is a residential neighborhood and get very annoyed and aggressive with pedestrians. City of New Haven, please answer the question. Will it be replaced??

Why is this issue "all set?" The sign still is not back.
