Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention for the traffic signal operations at 84th & Firethorn and 84th & Augusta. We apologize for the lateness of this response as the comment was inadvertently overlooked. However, we recently noticed this and wanted to acknowledge that we did in fact look into the operations of these two signals once we were made aware of your comments. There currently are not any issues found at these two intersections. There are several reasons why a traffic signal may change for a side street even if no one is sitting there waiting, and this is expected to occur sometimes. These include if a right-turning vehicle turns from the side street after the traffic signal commits to change but before it goes green, if someone pushes the pedestrian button and then walks away or crosses early, dirty cameras that need cleaned, and weather related events such as ice or fog which can cause the detection to go into a fail safe mode. It is hard to say exactly why the signals were changing when no one was there at the time of your comments. We have cleaned many detection cameras since then, so that may have been the likely reason. They are currently working well as we have recently observed them. Please let us know if you continue to experience issues at these intersections.
