Have been told multiple times from beginning of this company taking over new contract with Ansonia via phone email or in person to just throw it out all together as this company now seperates themselves. Also the at least at the time have not picked up the recycleables on the schedule foe every two weeks i got tired of bringing bin back to the yard thars wen i originally questioned what changed. So now approx once per month maybe more maybe less depends how i feel just had a tough winter to keep any schedule i bring it myself as i have a hard time throwing it all together after all the time it took to train our household to seperate and recycle as i was not bought up with doing this we did used to just tgriw it all together so now i ask whoever is reading this and knows for sure what is the process tgey wish us to do seperate bins ? Every two weeks? Please try to get message out so word can be passed around and hope we can get back on track
Yes BOB...its noting new and not considered a technological break-thru. Its called "Single Stream Recycling"
seen Here: http://wintersbrosct.com/recycling/ Simply put ....your entire collection of garbage collected for the week all goes into one Garbage can , no matter how big or volatile.
• Steel or tin cans or other will be attracted and separated by special magnet,
• Plastic will be centrifuged
• Glass will be heavy and gravitated downward,
• paper will be an end process material,
for which all of the above separation processes will travel along a high speed belt coordinated with their respective separation & collection stations.
Pretty cool for our faced paced life styles.
Thank you fianally an answer much appreciated. This should be put on the cities webpage It may hey cut down on some litter from those who put it out and it just sits there
So what are we in ansonia supposed to do? Leave some info are you gonna pick up all together. Are we on schedule like it always was or do we need to change to these bigger bins for all garbage??
I work for Winters Bros. and wanted to respond to this issue. We have separate trucks dispatched to Ansonia for household Garbage (MSW) and Single Stream recycling. So we do ask that you separate your regular household trash, like food items from single stream recyclables like paper, plastic, metal, cardboard and glass. Single stream means that we can accept all recyclable items together, so you don't have to bundle your paper and keep it separate from your glass. Our machines in Shelton will sort that material. It does not mean that you should place recyclables in your regular garbage. One of our trucks will pick up garbage and a separate truck will come back if you have recyclables out.
The issue might be if the garbage driver sees contaminated recyclables, such as pizza boxes with food still on them or recyclables mixed with garbage. That material would be considered garbage. If your recyclables are clearly in a different container than your garbage and there is no apparent contamination, the separate truck would come to pick up the recycling.
I hope this clarifies this issue and we'd be happy to answer any recycling questions you have. You can reach our customer service department at 203-743-0405 or you can go to www.wintersbrosct.com for more information.
OK so we should not be seeing our filled recycling bin being thrown in with our trash ...in the same truck??? CORRECT? That is what has been observed. In Ansonia we should be keeping trash in our own trash cans and recycling in the blue bins!
My garbage guys are too lazy to even lift and empty all contents out of the cans. I to have observed same truck, same pick up, for trash and recycling.
True .....One Can for all and all for one is what is being observed. Single stream the operation due to lack of Regulation and Conformance.
I HAVE HAD MY RECYCLING BIN OVER-FLOWING WITH ITEMS FOR OVER A MONTH AND HAD NO CHOICE TO PLACE THEM IN THE LAGER-REGULAR TRASH CAN TO PREVENT STREET LITTER.
NO ONE CAME TO EMPTY IT AS FAR BACK AS POST HOLIDAY.
somethings seems wrong here who is answering and agreeing from winter bros that all should be one? 2nd why should it matter if the garbage pick up sees the bin or garbage or both the issues is if the city is on one pick up for garbage and one pick up every other week for recycleables then thats what it should be That is what we are paying for I said it before and will say it aging i endf up going to dump myself to bring recycleables as i got tired of it not being picked up and i have a hard time with throwing it all together when it took a while to re train my self to do seperate Please post on this site or the city web sight what is supposed to be and all shouild know i dont really trust the two diff messages put out here and it would be nice if it is e.o.week what week is where as i myself have never had a seperate pickup from this company im repeating myself i no it but i was told by many to just throw all together if i seperate mine and puit it out i wish to no its the right week and will be picked up i appreciate any info to correct this issue it would be nice to just put it out at the street when its the proper pick up thanks again
I live on the hilltop and the recycle truck looks just like the garbage truck, but they are driven by different men. Have had no issues with our garbage or recycle pick up. My 3 year old grandson loves to watch the trucks come so I see exactly what they are doing.
The employees in Ansonia should not be mixing recyclables and regular household garbage in the same truck unless they see that the recyclables are contaminated for some reason. As mentioned before if there is food waste, dirty (food waste) containers, or if they abnormally wet, rendering the recyclables contaminated, it's possible that they have to throw the recyclables away, but that would be rare if people are following the attached single stream guidelines.
For any questions or to report observations other than this I kindly ask that you call us at 203-743-0405 and we are happy to resolve this issue. We pride ourselves in our recycling efforts and have invested millions of dollars into technology to separate these recyclable commodities. It would be counter-intuitive for us to mix recyclables and household garbage unless it was already contaminated.
No items contaminated in the recycle bin and the correct items that are fit to be recycled are in place. Triple washed after the rains but still no pickup of the small recycle container or the schedule is just not consistent? I leave it out every week during regular TRASH pickup.
IF I WERE TO CALL WINTER BROS. WILL THEY MAKE A SPECIAL TRIP OFF SCHEDUALE TO Alleviate the missed pick-ups?
I still don't understand. Someone called Winter Bros. is saying to throw everthing away together and use the blue bin for household storage or whatever and someone called Winter Bros Employee is saying you still have to use the blue bin and separate.
WHICH IS IT?????
the city of ansonia website page addressed this issue today. this is their response: Regarding some recycling questions that appeared on "Click Fix" - a response from Winters Bros. "We have separate trucks dispatched to Ansonia for household Garbage (MSW) and Single Stream recycling. GET-RID or use you old blue bins that were used for recycle as a storage container around the house (NOT NEEDED).
I went online not long ago and purchased a 65 Gallon Industrial grade Rubermaid container with wheels and a lid. Holds a lot of stuff for at least 10-12 days for a family of 4.
