Jax, I thought he was to rebuild the wall and break up the newly poured concrete and put plants in those places? This has been going on for more than a year. He is not complying with the city. I guess either he knows someone ir the city does not care.
118 Hague has been doing illegal work for almost a year without a permit and broke down the wall on the sidewalk in front of his house to use as an illegal driveway. I see tons of people struggling to walk around his cars when he parks there because it’s illegal and usually blocks half of the sidewalk. He usually parks it every now and then at weird times so he can get away with it
Same occured on Columbia and Hauge, owner removed tree, soild and fence and then parked car on dirt. City came , asked to return fence and tree, he just replace a cheap fence and s month later completly removed fence and cemented the patio. Now he has a car parked in the patio, and his other car parked behind that car. They also pay less taxes, aboit $ 800 less, for said property sice they do not technically have driveway.
I agree 100%, this is a constant issue here in the heights and I’m sure elsewhere. Everyone with a legal driveway has a permit or license number for that driveway that was issued by the city. Jersey city should have all residents post driveway sign with license number.
I agree with Jax. To make it easier all around, residents with LEGAL driveways should have their number designator posted so there will not be any mistake who has a legal driveway. When city officials pass by they can confirm it is legal.
118 needs to rebuild the wall, break up the new concrete so greenery can be planted. This will be less of a headache for him and the city. It is unjust he built an illegal driveway for his convenience when those that have applied and turned down cannot.
He should be given 30 days to put the wall back and destroy the concrete he added only so plants and trees can replace the bare space and show he is not using it for a driveway. Heavy fines and work cease and desist should be added. $10,000.00 fine and 10 years no work at all.
Is there an update on this? Nothing has been done. This homeowner will continue to use the space as a driveway for their convenience. Other residents who truly need a driveway, don't have this ability as the owner of 118 is rubbing it into everyone's faces. When others do this, don't be surprised and don't penalize them as this is appearing as favoritism. They can do this but no one else.
