Now a year later...and nothing. No one is on top of this! Obviously - corporations still have sway over neighborhoods and neighbors. Wrong...just wrong.

This building is a tremendous eyesore and the owners/managers are unresponsive and not interested in the health and well-being of our neighborhood. They have a huge beast of a building and feel that they can let it run down and degrade our living space without a care! It's about time LCI and our public officials put some pressure on these dopes to fix up their property so that it is an asset instead of a liability.

We need to find a solution to this nagging problem in our neighborhood. This property is a liability and needs serious attention. I am willing to roll up my sleeves to work towards a solution. As co-chair of the Chatham Square Neighborhood Association we want to work together to better our Fair Haven. Please help us.

This warehouse is appalling -- I used to bring visitors to this neighborhood often, but after this blight (and other ones near it) appeared, am now too embarrassed to. If I do, I take a route to avoid it.

Does anyone know the listed address of this property? I did a little searching and came up with three addresses that are all listed to the same owner (Chatham Partners LLC): 529 Ferry, 539 Ferry, and 197 Chatham. These all appear to correspond to the correct block.

I did some investigating and all three of these addresses are listed as owing back taxes. Collectively there are over $60,000 in delinquet taxes owed to the city on these three properties, some dating as far back as 2005. If the current owner refuses to take responsibility for their property AND isn't paying taxes, perhaps it's time for the city to take action against these delinquent deadbeats. Maybe someone else would like to purchase the property at auction.

The warehouse is now up for foreclosure sale. No meeting with the residents has been scheduled. The last thing we need is another absentee landlord trying to re-develop this property for industrial use. Our neighborhood is crying out for "family friendly" development with parks, a community center and / or affordable "for sale" housing. This city need a clear plan as to how they plan to develop Fair Haven and residents are a part of that plan. If you care about this project let you voice be heard.

I'll look forward to this meeting. We really need to see this hulk of a building taken care of instead of dragging out neighborhood down. Let's get this thing taken done.

The meeting will be held in one of the meeting rooms on the second floor across from the BOA Chambers. It will be posted on the sign on the second floor. We will be meeting with Kelly Murphy, the Economic Development Administrator and other LCI officials.

So, is there any word for the rest of us following this issue?How did the meeting go?

Thanks for asking...yes there is a word:
1.) The building is being foreclosed on.
1,000,000 owed to the bank + 100,000 owed the city
2.) It should go to foreclosure sale in early April
Current owners got the court to stall the sale.
3.) LCI is writing a letter to ask them to clean. If they refuse - LCI will and place a lein on the property.
4.) A local developer came and is trying to purchase. Sounds like they want a mixed use, family friendly development. They want neighborhood buy-in. They will present their plan in a public meeting.
5.) We, concerned citizens, have to hold the city responsible to do their job or we will continue to have a problem on our hands.

This item has not been fixed. We have requested help from the previous owners, talked to city officials at City Hall and we are STILL WAITING for this space to be properly maintained. This is disgusting and a serious BLIGHT to this struggling neighborhood. Does anyone care?

Last I heard.......The property has been in foreclosure and the court should approve the sale in the near future.
