I have read that construction based around the intersection issues is back on the front burner, even if the temp control is only set to simmer. I did not , however , see any mention of widening the southbound lanes of Route 1 going up the hill. Maybe we need to take all the state engineers over there, take away their cars and ask them to figure out how they plan to get up the hill alive.

Brilliant comment PBJ, how about YOU stay off the road if that'a all the respect you can muster for your fellow human beings. I understand this is not a "CLICK and FIX" situation, but the Register article that started this thread didn't specify time limits to get something done, just that there is a situation that needs improvement in town. I did write to Eleanor Turkington but she is appearantly having no more luck than I.

Still no motion on this issue, still every reason to leave it open. I was clip by a rear view mirror on a pick up truck last week, it hurt. It is not necessary to remove the rock ledge to fix this, another 2 or 3 feet of pavement along the edge of the lane would do it. I have written the DOT and received no reply, that was 2 months ago.

OK Folks Here is the Latest Poop from the State, I got the scoop on all the newspapers and Radio, (only because they don't care) DATELINE January 2014: The State states that thy are going to narrow all 4 travel lanes (2 up, 2 down the hill) in order to facilitate a bike lane going UP the hill!!. This is the honest truth, right from the horses mouth (I know, it stinks, but, nonetheless, it is direct from the horse) I was told to be quiet and sit down now, that this is the final say. Not one, but 2 project supervisors told me this and it MUST be the truth because they both read from the same prepared statement. Then I was told to ride in the center if the lane, I kid you not here it is. A SIR:

As a cyclist, you are within your rights, and should, ride in the center of the right hand lane if the shoulder is not wide enough to provide a safe operating space. Because there are two lanes, cars have the opportunity to pass you on this incline. While taking the lane can sometimes feel inappropriate it is the safest place for you in this situation, offering you 11' of operating space.constituent,

As seen on the front page of the New Haven Register I seem to have prevailed on the state to add bike lanes and sidewalks to the new upgrades that are slated to start this year on the intersection Yee-Ha
