Hello. Another serious accident occurred on the corner of Garfield and cantor again on 10/15 slamming into three parked cars. It appeared to be a drunk driver because they attempted to flee the scene. Pedestrians are at risk on serious injury. Is there any update for a traffic light on the corner of Cator and Garfield? This is an urgent safety matter and we hope the city can help the residents and homeowners of this community. Please advise.

I have also witnessed this same occurrence, as of 10/15 out of several this year. Driver sideswipes vehicles drives up on opposite sidewalk takes out neighbor staircase railing, tree in yard and lands in 2nd neighbors driveway smashing the parked car. It's like a roulette parking/walking here. Please!! Do something! We are tired of this!!!

We are aware of the fact speed bumps aren't allowed, how about some alternatives? Cameras will encourage people to slow down knowing they're getting a ticket, obviously not drunks, but you'll get them recorded.

My apologies, I will follow up with the Traffic Engineer on this intersection. It is on our list of intersections to be reviewed. When they review and intersection, it is for all possibilities.

No, sorry, we are still in the process of prioritizing the over 500 requests. Unfortunately, cameras are illegal in the State of New Jersey, so we will have to look at other traffic calming measures.

Maybe installing the S shaped curved traffic elements. They cause you to break so you can maneuver without stopping. Probably a firetruck can handle it, however the large trucks I don't know. Maybe there is an alternate route for large trucks anyway.

That is the problem, it is a truck route. The State decides what is a Truck route. At one point it was the municipality, but one municipality would say their main street is a truck route and then the next would say no. This would reroute trucks unexpectedly through neighbor hoods where trucks should not be.

It is really frustrating, but I get excited that the traffic engineers love solving these problems. It just sucks that the community has to deal with this situation for quite awhile before the project is started.
