Thank you for reporting the graffiti issue in Fair Haven. You are correct the situation has gotten worse in Fair Haven. However, please rest assured that Notices of Violations are being prepared for the owners with graffiti on their buildings. Several have been sent out already. Our intention at LCI is to aggressively deal with this problem by holding the individual property owners responsible for abating the nuisance on their property. We realize graffiti continues to be an ongoing problem city-wide. Therefore, we will continue to address it. In this case, the graffiti is located on State property. I just called the State to have them paint over it. Will keep you updated on the situation.

I've called the New Haven Police Department's Detective Division to assist with gang-related graffiti. I haven't heard from the detective yet, but when I do, I'll suggest we take a trip all around Fair Haven to see if we can identify the persons/gangs doing the graffiti.

Heavy graffiti in intersections of

Chapel and mill st
Ferry st and River st
Ferry st and fairmont ave (bridge)

And the usual underpasses. Like front st and Middletown ave

And then Grand Ave Store fronts when they roll down shutters and sides of buildings
