The speed limit on 71st Street North between 38th Avenue North and 54th Ave. N is 30mph. But, by our house at 71st St N and 40 Terrace N, cars are going at a much higher speed sometimes as high as 50 mph. or more. Sheriff monitored for a time, and we just asked sheriff office to again do speed control. But, we need something more to slow cars down. I was thinking perhaps a sign that flashes the cars current speed & if speeding sign flashes "Slow Down". Children walk along this road( that has no sidewalk) from 74th Street Elementary to their homes (many live at Las Palmas). It is only a matter of time before one of them gets hurt by a speeding car. Motorcycles fly by our house esp. in the middle of the night. Traffic continues to increase on this stretch of road as drivers try to avoid 66th St. congestion. We have lived here since 1983 , and the last year or so things have gotten worse with speeding cars.
I would appreciate if you would study this issue and try to determine the appropriate solution.
