Apparently, our thieving town officials have bigger priorities to spend our exorbitant, pirated tax dollars on, than making sure it's citizens can safely drive this road, day and night, in any weather. Sadly, it's probably going to take someone getting killed, before they do the right thing, if even then. It's the big rig, over loaded, over weight, logging trucks, that are constantly destroying the entire length of Greenfield Rd. The entire road needs to be widened and a proper foundation laid, along with frequent DOT inspection and enforcement of weight limits on all commercial trucks, using this road. My wife and I just recently spent over $1000 a piece on both our vehicles, replacing expensive, front end components, damaged by this DANGEROUS road. Greenfield Rd is a SHAME and that goes for our irresponsible and incompetent town councils, that more than likely, aren't forced to drive this road daily. SICKENING!
I just want to add I almost died a couple weeks ago. Greenbush keeps the greenfield rd TERRIBLE. you can tell where Greenbush starts and ends because of the poor condition of the road. I was driving in Greenbush on greenfield rd past Applebees when a logging truck lost control, he was in my lane and I spun into the oncoming traffic lane. I'm lucky I'm not dead nor my husband and son. I called the town of Greenbush and even left a message for the town manager. The didn't ever call me back. WHY do they get to be a town? They aren't a very good one.
Dear JMF 73,
I'm grateful, you and your family survived the Greenfield road nightmare! I'm truly worried someone is going to get killed on that stretch of road, we've had 2 spinouts on ice in the last 2 years, because of this poorly maintained, well traveled, torn up road. I think it would be a good idea, if Greenbush residents would get together and file a class action lawsuit against the town of Greenbush, before some poor souls are killed or should I say murdered, by the inaction, ignorance and complete incompetence of the Greenbush town council and the DOT! There's simply no excuse for their lack of concern and responsibility, in this matter of high priority!!!
YES ,they haven't did nothing to it. I have been trying to do something about it for the last year. This year it is real bad. Thee logging trucks&grave trucks are going to fast . The pot holes are getting bad you have too go all over the to miss the pot holes. The cops thing you are drunk because you are sriving all over the road.
I had my 2nd spinout on Greenfield Rd. this winter, day before yesterday! Greenbush doesn't maintain this road for safe driving conditions. It wasn't plowed and barely sanded, just a frozen slushy mess, with deep potholes, at 9:30am.
Fortunately, the truck coming the opposite direction noticed I was sliding and spinning and stopped in time to prevent an accident. As it was, I ended up sliding into a high snow bank, missing a mailboc by 3 feet. I'm sick of the poor road maintenance and dangerous conditions the city of Greenbush, allows to continue!
The truck driver that pulled over and kindly pulled me out of the snow bank, told me his daughter spun out just a few days before and narrowly missed a head-on collision! Is it going to take someone getting killed before Greenbush finally takes care of this dangerous road?
I am angry and very disappointed with lack of responsibility and maintenance of Greenfield Rd. The city of Greenbush has an obligation to it's citizens and all whom use this road, to properly maintain it! I'm fed up and seriously considering, filing a class action lawsuit against the town of Greenbush, after this latest white knuckle nightmare!
The road is snow much slush starting from RT 2 you think you are mudding. It's slippery and with a regular car you can barely drive down the road. Can't they use SALT? The road is DANGEROUS all the way through to 1700 Greenfield Rd.
45 mph?? Sure, until you bottom out on the frost heaves or hit the numerous potholes. Totally irresponsible road maintenance!!! Greenbush town officials, should be ashamed of themselves. Greenfield Rd. is not only dangerous, it's continually destroying the suspension of our vehicles. Enough is ENOUGH!!! FIX IT RIGHT ONCE AND FOR ALL!!!!!!!
The Milford side of Greenfield Road, from Rt. 2, across the railroad tracks (Always needs constant repair), to the Greenbush line is as much a nightmare, if not worse than the rest of the road. Last year, my wife and I spent over $2000 between us, having our front ends on our vehicles repaired, because of the road conditions, we're forced to drive on a daily basis. I've already purchased the complete front end alignment assembly for my vehicle, for the next repair in the near future. Last years costly repair and alignment is already showing signs of major wear. For such a heavily traveled road, especially once the big trucks return, there's no excuse for such poor road maintenance. The road needs to be widened and a much stronger foundation, to stand up to the weight of fully loaded and overweight trucks using it. For all the exorbitant property taxes these towns collect, the road should be cast in gold. I'll probably die of old age or in an accident on this road, before they fix it RIGHT! The towns of Milford and Greenbush, should be ashamed of themselves and face legal recourse, for their lack of responsibility in properly maintaining this DANGEROUS road.
Winter is coming fast and still the towns of Milford and Greenbush refuse to repair or maintain this DANGEROUS road! In my business, I travel around the State of Maine and Greenfield Rd. is one of the worst roads to drive. There's no excuse for the poor maintenance of this well travelled road, which is being destroyed by overloaded commercial trucks. Add to this consistent nightmare, the pending frost heaves that are always a winter issue. The railroad tracks at Rt. 2 are bone jarring and this year caused a side panel window in my van to shatter. When will Milford and Greenbush take responsibility and properly maintain this road? Answer: When they get sued for wrongful death, due to an accident caused by their indifference and incompetence, to a VERY DANGEROUS AND NARROW, unmaintained road! A class action lawsuit is the only way to prevent further destruction to our vehicles and potential serious injury or death from an accident and force Milford and Greenbush, to comply with basic safety standards of road maintenance. I'm personally fed up with filing complaints in vain and I sincerely believe, only legal recourse and litigation will force them to comply and finally resolve this matter, to the satisfaction of daily drivers and residents of the communities along Greenfield Rd.
I just had my winter tires installed and my mechanic do a front end alignment. The completely new front end that I had repaired exactly 1 year ago, is already showing signs of extensive wear, including my steering box, which needs to be replaced soon. I am fed up with the town councils of Milford and Greenbush, for allowing these dangerous road conditions to continue. It's time for action, with winter approaching and I am determined to take legal action, in the absence of common sense and moral responsibility for the safety and damages incurred by inaction on the part of Milford and Greenbush. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
I agree, it's also ridiculous that the greenfield rd from Greenfield Twp -RT2 is a DEATH TRAP but when you get to RT2 it's all perfect safe and nice. You are FORCED to drive in the middle of the road because neither lane is plowed enough to fit a car. It has to change. I'll join any group if one gets started! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
If State or city officials and their children were forced to drive this dangerous road on a daily basis, especially during winter, I'd bet it wouldn't be an ongoing issue! Ridiculous incompetence and ignorance is going to get someone killed or seriously injured. It's not a matter of if, but when!
This road needs more than just patching. It needs to be widened and a foundation sufficient to handle overloaded semi trucks, that destroy this road and the front end of our vehicles. I'm sick and tired of the irresponsibility and lack of concern for our safety. It turns out the state of Maine is responsible for the maintenance of Greenfield Rd., which explains why this road remains a nightmare for those of us who are forced to drive it daily. I'm sure the local mechanics are happy to take our money for the constant front end and suspension work they derive from this DANGEROUS road, but one day the price will be someone's life and that is unacceptable! FIX THE ROAD RIGHT OR KEEP THE BIG TRUCKS OFF OF IT!!!!!
The hill on greenfield rd by crocker turn rd is NEVER plowed adequetly. I SLID down the hill backwards and had to leave my car at a neighbors and walk a mile
Looks like I made it through this winter, without spinning out of control on Greenfield Rd., though I've seen others lose traction and spin out, along with 2 recent vehicle accidents going off the road within a 30 day period, across from Applebee's. Now with spring approaching, will we still be forced to drive down the middle of Greenfield Rd. or will they lay a proper foundation to support the heavy logging and gravel semi-trucks? Resurfacing the road is inadequate and won't resolve the major potholes, cracks and uneven dips caused by big, heavy trucks tearing up this highly traveled, dangerous road.
I can't believe the DOT is just grading the sides of Greenfield Rd and NOT resurfacing until next year, SUPPOSEDLY! What a foolish complete waste of money, resources and time! I am so FED UP with the condition of Greenfield Rd and too think we'll all have to endure another winter on this DANGEROUS road, really gets me hot under the collar! The DOT should be ashamed of themselves for their incompetence, ignorance and uselessness, but we all know they don't give a damn about our safety or the subsequent damage to our vehicles suspensions and front ends. My wife is having her rack and pinion, tie rods and ball joints replaced next week again, within less than 2 years and I need my steering box replaced, as well. Thanks a lot DOT . . . FOR ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!
Well, at least it's nearly half fixed! Total incompetence and carelessness by the Town Councils of Milford, Greenbush and their working relationship with the DOT. My guess is by the time winter comes, the partial, temporary, thin resurfacing on the edges of Greenfield Rd. will be destroyed once again, by the heavy semi trucks. For the amount of commercial truck traffic that uses this road, the sub-structure and width of this road is woefully inadequate. This results in the same damage and dangerous conditions, year after year. Will they ever get it right? Don't hold your breath!!!
Extend Argyle Rd. or Greenfield Rd. across the river to the I-95, giving drivers an option to avoid the slow, single lane, heavy traffic driving through the towns of Milford and Old Town. What a time consuming nightmare it has become and just maybe it would result in better long term maintenance of Greenfield Rd., as well.

The equivalent of Mr. Toads wild ride, obstacle course, with 80,000lb. trucks barreling towards you, center line. E-ticket to HELL!
A special thanks to the DOT, the town of Greenbush and the railroad, for your genuine concern for our safety and the condition of our vehicles!
