This traffic signal and most in the City do not function properly. The question is why? Who's the vendor that sold this poorly designed system to us (I say us because not only have all of us paid for them but we continue to pay for them with our time and fuel as we idle away waiting for them to change. I have noticed that if one "sneaks up" on the light and aligns one's vehicle just right, the light will trip. Have you noticed the work around "solution" at some intersections? Reverting back to times operation so the lights cycle without regard to traffic. Progress? Let's ask West Haven or perhaps State officials where they procured the hardware and software used at the intersection of Derby Ave and Forest Road. The signals work flawlessly! So we know it's possible to solve this problem once and for all. In the meantime, we'll listen to drivel about traffic calming (I find I'm much calmer when the lights work) and street smarts - that program did a lot. Can the new leadership solve this problem so we can turn our attention to bigger issues? If not why not.
