Thank you for your patience with this issue! It has been placed in our Citizen's Request System and internal work order system, and has been to have a sidewalk installation estimated on 1/15.2015. A representative from the Department of Public Works will inspect the location and examine the following things: if storm drainage needs to be installed, if a utility pole has to be relocated, if trees need to be removed and etc. Once the location is inspected and the department determines what is needed and the amount of funding needed, the sidewalk request will be added to a master list in where it will wait until funding is available to assign it to a contractor and be completed. The projects are selected from highest to lowest. If funding becomes available the sidewalk request will be added to in city's budget for the year. If funding isn't available it will be considered in the following year's budget. As you can see this is a lengthy process. I reported this issue in an email over two years ago to the City of Richmond and it has yet to be resolved, you speak of how long this process is, but really is the process that long, and is there no way to expedite this? There is a large hispanic community here that walks this stretch of hull street daily and the city has the responsibility to provide this group of people with proper infrastructure and lighting.
