Thank you for attempting to make So. Cambridge St. drivable. It lasted briefly, until it rained. Really rained.
I have to drive so slowly that my speedometer doesn't even register. I've already had to repair my cars rear suspension bushings.
This is a daily aggravation. I find myself avoiding trips to various parts of the island so as not to drive on So. Cambridge. I have an alternate route but that's just as bad.
Between $900 & $950 million is expected in real estate sales in 2014. There isn't enough money in the budget of the DPW to fix, not repair, the roads on which many of us drive? What happens if a fire truck or ambulance drives down one of these poorly maintained roads. Those extra minutes can make such a difference.

Thanks for the recent temporary repair at the intersection of South Cambridge & Long Pond. It's just temporary. A dirt patch on a paved road will work until it rains - hope it holds up until a permanent fix can be made. The rest of South Cambridge is nearly impassable. Any emergency vehicle trying to travel on the road would likely be delayed in its response time. Please try to install hardener and crown the road as has been done elsewhere.

I 100% agree with the comments above. Can gravel be put into the potholes as a semi long-term fix? The road is nearly impassable and I too have had many car repairs because of it.

Thank you for trying to solve this problem with a longer-term solution. We too have just incurred more costly repairs to damaged car suspensions.

Heavily travelled dirt roads such as South Cambridge require frequent grading, especially with the repeated rain events of the past year. DPW has not had sufficient staff available to do more grading than has been done recently. A more permanent solution to this is paving. This would be have to be authorized by the Board of Selectmen. If this is a course of action that the abutters would like to see, please contact the BOS to request that this be considered.
