I appreciate the attention given to this intersection a short while back- it was even on the news. However, nothing has changed. I watch school kids struggle to cross the street to and from school, and I myself cross at this crosswalk daily and not only do cars fail to stop WHILE I AM IN THE CROSSWALK, but they are often speeding and unable to slow down even if they did chose to obey the law regarding yielding to pedestrians. I just do not get why the city seems to refuse to do more to protect the residents of Dunwoody North.

Pedestrian safety is very important to the City of Dunwoody. Last year the city completed an assessment of all of its unprotected crosswalks and the final report can be found here: http://dunwoodyga.gov/ckeditorfiles/files/Projects/Sidewalks/Pedestrian%20Safety%20Action%20Plan.pdf . Improvements were completed at Chesnut Elementary and on Perimeter Center Place last year. This summer crosswalk improvements are planned on Mount Vernon, Womack and Tilly Mill at Binghamton.
There are a number of different signs and flashing lights that have been tried at crosswalk locations that are not protected by a stop sign or red light. The rate of driver yielding for most of the various treatments has been found to be less than 70% and even in the best cases the compliance rate does not exceed 90%. There are always going to be drivers that don't comply. That is why the city continues to conduct enforcement at crosswalks.
