Description

Fountain Street is a major roadway. When the school buses are loading/unloading students at Mauro-Sheridan, no children are crossing Fountain Street, as they are all moving from/to the school building. Since cars must stop for the blinking bus stop signs, Fountain Street ends up being stopped for blocks in both directions, usually during busy commute times. Must the the bus stop signs be activated? (I've never driven a school bus: does the blinking stop sign turn on every time the door is opened?) If the signs cannot be deactivated, what about assigning a traffic monitor to wave the traffic on? Or, if some street must be wholly blocked for the buses, then how about blocking Emerson instead of Fountain? No one wants to endanger school children, and this does not seem to be an issue of safety, but rather one of common sense.
