At the corner of Central and Market St., I waited for the walk signal to push my baby in a stroller across the crosswalk, only to find that cars were turning from Market onto Central St. right in front of me because they have a green light. This is very hazardous as both pedestrian and driver think they have the right of way. The light should remain red for drivers while pedestrians cross, like it used to be. Yes, there is a small sign telling drivers to yield to pedestrians in the crosswalk but it very high and hardly noticeable. This is a VERY dangerous situation that needs to be rectified before someone gets hit.

It's bad for drivers as well, as I've mentioned on another thread. The light is extremely short for drivers to turn right, and there's no turn on red. Therefore they're rushed to make the turn. On a typical morning light when pedestrians are crossing, perhaps 3-4 make it through each time.
This is a badly designed intersection, as it stands today. That said, I disagree with your idea to have the light be red for drivers at this time. I've only seen drivers yield to pedestrians, day after day, so your case was the exception, and not the rule.
