still! turn light goes on and holds many cars

I do not work for the city, but I used to work on traffic lights in another state. Each direction of controlled traffic, or "phase", has a minimum and maximum time programmed into the controller. Normally the controlled direction never gets a green light until the metal detector puts a "call" into the controller on that phase. If a metal detector's sensor in the pavement (a simple loop of wire) fails, that phase will place a constant "call" to the signal controller and that phase will always stay on for it's maximum time, as opposed to being called only when cars are present. The phase can also be manually set for "minimum recall" or "maximum recall" if there is no detector or the detector is broken.

The maximum time is normally determined for rush hour to clear the direction that it is controlling. During the opposite rush hour, or day time operation, that maximum time is probably too long.

The metal detector loop wires are probably broken causing the constant call which would have to be re-cut into the pavement. I would suggest to the city of Stockbridge that they place that phase in "maximum recall" and decrease the maximum time until the city can re-cut, and replace the loop wires.

still nothing done, still wait at light at 4:30 in the morning with no one in the other lanes. will anyone look at this issue

I get a message in my email if this issue(693days) can be close and I say maybe the people that think it's fix should be there at 4:30am and see for themselves. only today I waited the whole time and then the left turn signal turned on with no one in the lane. I was the first there, 5 cars came from the cross traffic, after I got there and their light had been green for more than 30 seconds. yes maybe someone should see it at 4:30am or do I need to send video?

I guess we will have to live with the fact there is no traffic on the road at other than regular business hours and we the people don't count.

I talked to a employee that worked on the area in question and he said the side streets have the sensor working and that the main roads only have the timers running. so that means that the main road changes if there is no one there and slowing main traffic for no reason then if there is a car in the side roads the main traffic has to stop for one car that will most likely turn right and didnt need the light. bottom line is that the system is broke and it is gridlock at most of the day and night. I wish some one could explain why cant get something better... or smarter. I avoid the road but I live here and wish someone would look into it. I have complained for over five years and nothing.

its been six years and nothing is better?

DOES ANY ONE CARE!!!! I AVOID THE AREA. HAS ANYONE GONE OUT TO TEST THE SYSTEM AT 3 AM AND SEE THE TIMERS WORKING BUT THE SENSORS NOT? DAYTIME IS A jOKE ! GRID LOCK IS THE NORM. THE TWO COUNTIES NEED TO SIT DOWN AND DO SOMETHING. ITS GOING ON 7 YEARS. IT'S ONLY GOING TO GET WORST WITH THE NEW CONCERT VENUE BRING IN MORE CARS.

Not sure about the timers but I do know the left turn light from Lake Spivey Pkwy to Mt Zion Rd by krystals does not work. The left turn toward Office Depot works and will halt oncoming traffic while the opposing does not. Last week Hannover pkwy was closed for repaving and was virtually impossible to turn left onto Mt. Zion Rd.
