This IS something Prince Albert does really need. And no Mr. Hermiteowitch, not a bathhouse. I think you need to grow up. It is time Prince Albert gets with the times, and it is time people like Mr. Hermiteowitch open their eyes. I can guarantee someone in your family is gay...maybe you just don't know it! The ratio is 1 in ten. So Mr. Hermiteowitch, if you took 10 men (ok, lets take 15...give you the benefit of the doubt), from your extended family and family, one would be gay! Here is a little blurp from Wiki Answers...
"According to most of what I've read, The US census bureau reports that aproximately 1% of the population is LGBT. However this is an estimate based upon same sex marriages and civil unions, which does not count singles or those who are too afraid to report that they a gay. In a social diversity class I attended, we were told a more accurate estimate was that 1 in 10 people were either gay, bisexual, or were a repressed homosexual/bisexual (meaning they had feelings for the same sex but were too afraid of the adverse effects to act upon such feelings) what a shame! 1 in 10 people and they are treated like they were little green men from another planet!"
Say enough? Grow up, and pull your head out of you know where. Also, notice that this was viewed 476 times when I posted this. Think that might mean something????

Actually, JANHWP, the views may not be indicative of *people* viewing the information. Spiders and bots do the same thing, view pages that they've searched for based on the content of the keywords and page. Your citing of American stats aren't doing your argument any good, either, but that's beside the point.
Thing is, if a group of people want a safe place to meet, they find a place they can meet until they can afford to rent private space. Then they rent the private space until they can afford to build their own place. What I'm hearing from the OP is that they want the City/community to build a place for them. If you want to 'make it happen', get off your duff and do it.

I remember High School in the 80's when a gay man couldn't be openly gay without constant harassment and severe bullying. It's high time we opened our minds to everyone and not just the individual. Diversity and freedom choice and lifestyle are a must.Good topic. :)

In response to seenitall, we are not looking for a handout like the majority of PA does. As far as priorities go, maybe we should see if we can have space available in the fieldhouse? lol.
Nice to see Jennifer. I will definately be in contact with you.

As for the idea put forward by others about someone buying and opening a gay bar...well if someone sees a demand for such a place then raise the money and obtain the property and open one up. Take some ownership of the place and go for it but don't expect others to fund your business venture.

I totally support this and hats of f to Jennifer! I am also a lesbian/bi leader in the Community who is not closeted. The agency I work for also supports the GLBT2 community and would be willing to help out with Jennifer's program.

POSTPONEMENT: The next Diversity Qmunity Meeting will be Dec 3rd at 5pm at the YWCA @ 1895 Central Avenue (up the hill). The first meeting helped to establish the frameworks for a Diversity Steering committee. The second meeting established the Mission Statement, Vision Statement, and Values. Next meeting will be Board Elections and finalizing a name. Based on the community feedback, this Board will look at objectives developed, prioritize them, and establish an action plan to support the LGBT2 Qmunity in PA; such as, establishing a safe space, fundraising for @#$% projects, supporting the Pride Festival, networking with Ally organizations, education of the Qmunity, @#$% friendly social events, etc.
All Allies and LGBT2 people of all ages are encouraged to attend as the greater number of voices and input, the more effective strategic plan can be developed for our community.
Much thanks to Donna Brooks, Executive Director at the YWCA, for donating the meeting space at the YWCA for this event
Please feel free to contact me at 940-6836 if you have any further questions. I am just so excited at the momentum that is being developed with this community and I look forward to seeing you at the forum!

The mayor and City Council have proclaimed March 25 to 31 as Transgender Awareness Week and march 31 as Transgender Day of Visibilty. In honor of this, on March 25, The Prince Albert Q-Network will be hosting a film and forum at the Prince Albert Multicultural Council (1410C Central Avenue ) from 2:30pm to 5:30pm.
The movie is "Two Spirits", an award winning documentary about Fed Martinez, a nádleehí, a male-bodied person with a feminine nature, a special gift according to his ancient Navajo culture. Fred became one of the youngest hate-crime victims in modern history when he was brutally murdered at sixteen. Between tradition and controversy, sex and spirit, and freedom and fear, lives the truth—the bravest choice you can make is to be yourself.Join us in Prince Albert for tea, coffee, and bannock, watch the film, and after listen to local Two-Spirited people share their stories.
