This issue has been submitted several times to the City through SeeClickFix and other means over the last 30 days. The pile of trash has grown over time and is now a major code violation and problem for the neighborhood. The City Administration needs to address this issue ASAP.

I agree. This dumpster has been like this for at least 30 days. The trash keeps coming, either that, or it is falling out of the dumpster onto the ground. I thought there might even be a body wrapped up in one of the sheets. However, I think it is just a matrress.

UPDATE: it looks like someone has come and picked up about half of the trash. The dumpster has been moved about 10 feet, and much of the trash has been picked up today while I was at work. However, either the truck that picked it up did not have enough space to take everything (and hopefully they will be back to pick up the rest and remove the dumpster) or someone has already come again to dump a mattress.

There is a big chair on the ground outside the dumpster now too.

UPDATE: 9/24 all trash has been cleared, lot cleaned and dumpster completely removed!

Thanks for the update. That is good news for the neighbors and for the Shockoe Bottom Neighborhood in general. Thanks to all who helped keep the City's attention focused on addressing this problem. Glad to learn that comments on SeeClickFix can make a difference.

The City of Richmond does not service dumpsters; the apt. complex is responsible for removing the debris and contacting the refuse company that service their complex.
