Code Compliance sent a letter on August 4, 2014. The owners are given seven day to comply and if not the City will have their contractors clean up the site. The owners will be billed for the work.

15 days after Code Compliance letter, 17 days after initial report, here's pix from today. Couch still there, garbage still covering porch & property.

This is ridiculous! I have tried to get the City to give low income trash stickers free of charge for bulk items in the past, even was interviewed by the TV news reporter on the issue. Bulk stickers for low income are still expensive and takes some effort to get ...and only 1 per family per year. City needs to help stop this bulk trash waste being strewn around and left on the properties to rot.

The code compliance officer ( under the Fire Marshall's office) needs to also be reported for not doing his/her job on following up on the violation proceedings.

Could it be someone is rehabbing this property? Might be good but slow progress taking place. Cleaning supplies are in some pics but not others. A table saw appears to be set up to use in some pics but not others. Carpet scraps could be a clue also. Code Com might be working a week-by week plan out w this owner as we speak? CC might have met w the owner and assessed the indoor progress as satisfactory. We can speculate towards the positive or otherwise. Let's hope it's an attractive home in the making.

A family with 5 kids is renting it. The father is in carpet installation, hence the tools. Sadly no, they are not rehabbing.

Rehab or not, I live in the suburbs, and they would never allow gross couches to sit on the curb for almost a month's time.

They FINALLY cleaned it up! The mattress was just removed & the porch is no longer over-flowing with stuff.

Good to hear. Never know the inside details of a situation, but, 5 kids, got to be a strain on time. Easier on the eyes for the neighbors.

I'm sure their burden is large and this is a low-income street. But just because we are poor doesn't mean we have to be slobs too. Very pleased to have the eyesore taken care of, it's better for everyone, including the kids that live there.
