Church goers are parking on our lawns and blocking our driveways! The fenced in a nice area for them to use to play, they should have made it a parking lot for the church. STOP PARKING IN FRONT OF OUR DRIVEWAYS AND ON OUR LAWNS.
I know it is a church and is being used as such, however, on Saturdays there is never any parking because they take over the neighborhood for the entire day. Our neighborhood was not designed to have so much traffic.
They had a generator running all night last night. This is a residential neighborhood and they have no consideration for their neighbors. They are affecting the quality of life here.
I do not need a church in order to live the way the good Lord wishes we all would. Its pretty hypocritical that people going to church to Praise the Lord are not consider of "other people" when parking along the roadway. Just because they go to church doesn't make them exempt from being considerate of others. I had this same issue with "party" homes in my area.....always parking up on my lawn, kids toys in my driveway when I returned home....its ashame people who want us to believe they are good, caring, considerate church goers do not practice what is preached by God's servants of their churhes. I feel for you who are experiencing inconsiderate people. I support your cause and hope this issue gets resolved.
I too have resented this church since they moved in and fenced their property off like a bad neighbor. Aesthetically, the neighborhood does look like a parking lot all day!!! Saturdays when they have services. Cars all over the place, around the church, across the church, down the street from the Church. At least show some neighborliness and take that frekin' nasty fence down.
Thats a new one for me. A church with a fence around it. That tells me not all are welcomed and only those already in their social club are admitted. Find out who their charter is, send picutres of the fence and a picture for every single day of the week to prove how inconsiderate the "church" goers are being in your neighborhood.
If it were me, I'd try to get my hands on a copy of their church schedule for proof that the inconsiderate parking coincides with scheduled church happenings. Definitely question that fence evidencing with pictures and pictures of all other churches wihtout fences (all demonimatons of course)
The church used to be a Christian Science church, had services twice a week, and parishioners were respectful, parked on the street for an hour or two a couple of times a week and left.
Now there are people there sometimes all day and most of the night, not just on Saturdays but many times during the week. Some cars have been parked there all night. Their services are not listed in the paper which makes it seem like a very closed community.
A parking lot would NOT solve the problem; it would make it worse, visually AND noisewise. There would still be cars on the street, plus more traffic in a concentrated area (going in and out of the lot) lights, noise. They really need a larger property in an area better equipped to handle the crowd in a less populated or less residential neighborhood.
I heard a rumor a while back that the church was for sale. I wish they would sell the church and move to a place that can better accommodate them- and their cars. A parking lot would just lead to more chaos- and there would still be cars on the street as the congregation continues to grow- plus it would look even uglier there than it already does with the fence! Do you want to have your houses' property values take a bigger hit?
NOW they want to turn a house at 108 Fourth St into a parish house, childcare center and Bible study center- all tax exempt, of course, which will only ADD to the car and foot traffic in the neighborhood. This is supposed to be a RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD! Hearing to be held by Zoning Commission Dec 15. All who are put off by this should attend.
It's going on two years and the issue is getting worse our neighbors who have homes for sale can't have showings on Saturdays or several other days during the week. More cars than ever and much longer days and nights for the Church. Last week people were leaving at 10pm and it was very loud.
If anything, the car/traffic situation has improved over the last year or so. Nobody seems to park where they're not supposed to park (on lawns or blocking driveways) City streets ARE public and can be used for their parking needs. Fact.
Legal doesn't mean them taking up blocks of parking is not annoying, as in if a neighbor has a graduation party and their guests have to go way out of their way to park. How tolerant are you, really, when you imply those who object to this mini mega-church parking are religiously intolerant? There has to be 50-100 cars parked on Saturdays and mailbox access should not be blocked.
They do park on our lawns just try mowing my lawn on a Saturday and see if you can get around the cars. Have a family get together on one of the many days they meet and try and find a place for your guests to park. How about when they are all leaving at 10pm and the loud talking and cars leave wake the kids. It's not an ideal situation.
I will say again what I said before, the neighborhood was not designed for the number of cars passing through. If you live in the immediate vicinity of the church, you can forget about having guests over because there is little to no on street parking. And they are there from early in the morning to late in the evening.
I said nothing about religious intolerance. I just said that anyone who gets a space can park on city streets- there's no such thing as reserved parking. There seem to be fewer cars than there were the last couple of years. This all seems so petty. Were they to put in a parking lot, it would accommodate a limited number of cars because of zoning and planning regulations and there would probably be just as many cars parked on the street because more congregants would come- and then people would complain about the nasty looking parking lot and traffic going in and out of it too.
