Unfortunately this is not a Codes issue. This is the sole jurisdiction of Metro Health/Animal Control. Please call Animal Control at 862-7928, and if you still do not receive a reply, please email Larry Cole at larry.cole@nashville.gov to assist you.
That is disgraceful and unacceptable. They should do time for animal abuse. It makes me sick. Please help them. They need help NOW, not later, and that's IF you can finally get someone to help. They'll be dead by then.
I have spoken with Larry Cole at Metro Health and he is sending out Billy Biggs with Animal Control today.....did the owners just up and vacate the home?
The owners still live in the home. These dogs stay out in all temps, I know for a fact that one froze to death last year and one was bitten by rats. The home is over run with rats. I have called Animal Control before but no one ever came. I almost wanted to remove the animals myself, but my husband is afraid of either weapons on the property or rats. There are several inside as well in small containers/crates.
Larry Cole notifed me prior to my leaving the office that there were two dogs and two cats inside the house and while there is no power the owner comes to the house every day to feed, water and clean up and there is one side window that is open. So there is conflicting information being provided. I suggest everyone contact Billy Biggs or Larry Cole at Animal Control to possibly meet with them to gain resolution. I am sorry thst I cannot assist since I am a Codes employee.
NO NO...this house IS NOT ABANDONED...I live one block over, you are obviously at the wrong house. I can hear the dogs barking now..This link seems like it it of no use. There are NO cats. And there is power because lights are on now. I DID call animal control and they did nothing. So whoever Larry Cole is, he has or you have erroneous information.
Again, this is an issue for Metro Health and Animal Control. Codes has no jurisdiction. However I am going to contact the Mayors Office tomorrow morning and ask them to step in and work with Animal Control to sort this out. I am confused more than ever and I will personally contact Larry tomorrow morning for you.
To all concerned.....yesterday there were two addresses submitted to this website about starving dogs....the informaiton that was provided to me via Animal Control was for a proeprty on Thompson Place....not Keeton Avenue. I am of the understanding that the email Mr. Cole sent to me about a vacant home with dogs and cats inside was attached to the keeton address......so please know that I have contacted Mr. Cole and asked him to provide me the status for the Keeton avenue status. IF Animal Control did not visit the Keeton Avenue property yesterday - they will this morning!!!!
Animal control was out yesterday and spoke with the owner, there were some minor issue's that they are working on, but the animals are not starving. I also hooked them up with Nashville Humane to get all of the animals spayed or neutered and all vaccinations. I will follw up next week.
Animal Control also went to 1210 Thompson Pl. about animals that were left in a house and the owners had moved. when I arrived the owner was there, she comes by twice a day to clean, feed and water them , all were in good health, three dogs and two cats
To Donna Abano, #1 No dog froze to death last year. #2 None of these dogs starve, they eat better than we do. #3 and this is the important one. About the dogs inside, yes they are in containers, but they are size appropriate. BUT what i wanna know is how do you know they are in those containers unless you trespassed onto private property?
