Several things need to be done here. One is that the intersection needs to have the repaving completed. Second, once that is done, full crosswalks should be painted each way as originally done. Third, what should be placed there are signs stating that it is a STATE LAW to stop at a crosswalk. These signs are all over Raleigh but not here at a school intersection and should be there. Would greatly improve safety at this intersection.

The Scales St and Fairview Rd pavement patch for the water line replacement work has been completed. Fairview Road and Scales Street are not scheduled at this time for complete resurfacing. We are working on getting these crosswalks re-striped. Should be happening in the next few weeks prior to school opening.
Will check on the possibility of signage at the crosswalks. When our traffic engineering staff has responded I will post another update.
