I heard some kind of commotion in my backyard last night. I live on Nicoll Street on the east side between Lawrence & Eagle, and I could clearly hear some 4-footed creature rustling / kind of pouncing around. It didn't sound like a raccoon or possum. I hope it was your cat and that you find him soon. ps - I was going to look out my window w/ my flashlight, but unfortunately didn't have it handy like I usually do.

Hi Parlak's friends, I left kibbles and tuna out last night and kept an eye on it until I went to bed (about 11) but didn't see him. :( When I woke up this morning the food was gone - not sure if it was Parlak or another furry diner. I'll leave some more out tonight around the same time and see if he comes around.

I have my own indoor cat so I am worried about Parlak and promise to keep a watch out. Fingers crossed!

Have you checked with the cat project on State Street or Animal Control in case someone has brought them in.

Just a few minutes ago a dark cat was eating the food I left out. I went out to verify if it was your cat and he ran away. Continuing to keep an eye out.

Thank you. We are leaving both food and water out. We have put up posters and distributed flyers in the neighborhood, and will do more. We are going around the neighborhood, looking and calling for him, but there are SO many possible hiding places or places where he could have accidentally been shut in. He might have been taken in by someone, or else he is probably hiding, because he is an indoor cat and not used to being outdoors at all. Thank you to everyone who is keeping an eye out!

My wife and I just spent an hour searching the streets around Nash and Lawrence for Parlak... our own black cat went missing a few years back and so we have a soft spot. We took a flashlight and were shining under porches and into tight places around your intersection but it's tough to search thoroughly without trespassing. I'm sure you folks have gone door to door asking neighbors and have checked at local shelters, but in any case here are some tips for finding lost cats:

We have made many phone calls, sent many emails, left notices in mailboxes in the neighborhood, put up posters, posted on several lost pet websites, and talked to anyone we have seen around the neighborhood, but additional suggestions are always welcome.

There was a black cat in the driveway of 77 Lawrence St. this morning around 645am that resembled your lost cat. I was with my dog so I did try to approach him but he seemed ok and not scared. Not sure if he belongs to that home...

There is another black cat on Lawrence, Klaus Kinski, but I think that he is smaller. Also, the tip of his right ear is cut, if he is still you can see some brown stripes on his tail (they're not obvious), and he is missing a lower canine front tooth (his are very long).

Some of you may have seen McKay, the Pet of the Week from the New Haven Animal Shelter, on TV. McKay looks very much like Parlak, but is not Parlak. We are still searching. Thank you to everyone who is watching out for Parlak.

PARLAK RETURNED HOME SAFELY LAST NIGHT! This indoor kitty was missing for more than a month. He's much thinner, but otherwise ok. Thank you, everyone, for your help and encouragement and for watching out for Parlak.

He did come home on his own. We think he was probably hiding somewhere very close to home, too frightened to come out even when we were going around the neighborhood calling him. The experts say that this often happens when indoor cats are lost outside. Food had regularly been left out for him, and that's where he was found last night. Thank you to other people who left food out -- I'm sure it helped him to survive. We're so happy he's back!!

OMG, I'm so glad Parlak is home! It's the time of year when people move, and I was afraid he'd jumped into a vehicle & was lost out of state. This is a miracle! Truly. I'm very happy for you all.
