I've forwarded this complaint on to our traffic officer, who will look at it, as he has in the past and try to work with the State DOT. Ultimately, if anything was going to happen it would need to be from the State, so I will also contact our local State Rep's for their help as well. This website is new to me, so i'm hoping that I have informed the people who wrote this.

By law, the local traffic authority, in this case headed by Torrington Police Officer Shopey, can submit a one page form to the state requesting a signal be installed.

The State Traffic Commission may then authorize a traffic study, which reports back to the commission. A representative from Torrington can attend the commission meeting to voice the opinion of the town regarding the report. The application is then approved or denied.

Rep. Cook is happy to support the town in its request and looks forward to helping out in any
way she can.

Thanks for everyone's prompt attention to this matter. A left turn signal is now present on eastbound 202; hopefully their further study will bring a light to the westbound side.

Over the years I have seen several accidents, most minor a few that looked pretty bad, the whole intersection needs to be redesigned, there is so much traffic at that point, cars coming east, traffic moving west at which point you have a left turn lane crossing two east bound lanes, it is going to take a faitallity before someone steps up to the plate to correct it. I tell my son to stay away from that intersection as much as possible!!!! Too bad it will take someone to get hurt before the proper action is taken.
