What walk way signal. You never mentioned the location.

There is a school but it's not in session late at night, so a "push button for walk signal" design would make more sense. The walk signal doesn't help bikes since they are supposed to follow the same lights as cars. I get just as annoyed waiting here on my bike as in my car.

Barbara, the intersection is at Water St. and Brewery St., between Wooster Square and the Ikea, just next to the Route 34 overpass.

I agree that it feels very senseless to sit through an automated all-way walk signal at this intersection at all times of day, including late at night - when there are not only no children around from the school, but no pedestrians around at all! Perhaps the gods of traffic light signals could put a timer on the automated all-way walk here, after 6 or 7pm on weekdays? If not making it push button only at all times.

There is nothing quite like the slow torture of being made to sit through an all-way walk at 10pm with nary a pedestrian in sight.
