This has been a problem here for years -- if you look across the street, you'll see a culvert pipe and culvert. Think there might be a connection? Do more than throw asphalt down -- dig, and you'll probably find a broken culvert pipe down under there. It'll take more than an asphalt patch to fix it, folks. You'll have to dig and probe, to find the break.

The City of Oakland Oakland Public Works Department has received this issue. It is registered as service request # 516080. Thank you, in advance, for your patience as we work through a backlog of pothole service requests. Unfortunately the City does not have enough funding to repave all streets in poor condition. With limited funding, our response to resurfacing requests is limited to minor pavement and pothole repairs only. Our Street Maintenance Department will assess your street and determine whether temporary measures might be appropriate. Please understand that this work may be limited to pothole or other minor repairs, and that we have many similar requests. We will do our best to respond in a timely manner. The backlog of streets in Oakland needing pavement currently is $435 million and growing.

Broadway Terrance needs to be completely repaved from
Mountain Blvd. to the top. The potholes cause cars to swerve
into oncoming traffic and thus are increasingly Dangerous

I'd go with David's suggestion.

Beyond just the potholes, the roadbed is decaying in places and tree roots are lifting the pavement in other areas.

This thoroughfare is rated in the high 40s with the Pavement Condition Index --- which is "Poor."
When was that rating assigned?
What does this rating need to be compared to traffic count before it is an actionable item?

After 20 years of living off Broadway Terrace, I'm convinced the people paying the city the most taxes are not getting getting much in return as problems here in the hills are always dismissed as minor compared to the rest of the city. This pothole has been reported on for so many years that our only hope is to vote out the incumbents and try to find someone who will help represent our interests.
Appologies to all the near head on collisions with fellow residents this has created for the last few years as I drive around it every day.

UPDATE:
This repair is on the City's standard response schedule for road repair.
You can expect completion of this project sometime between 2035 and 2084

Actually this one got handled. There's still a wee bit o' seepage, but the repair was made some months ago.

Actually BWT needs to be repaved from Proctor, where EBMUD finished its work, all the way up. There are sink holes forming at the Lake Temescal entrance on BWT. Knowing this City we'll won't see a penny of the recently passed bond issue. We'll just have the pleasure of paying the increased tax.

The City Needs to make repaving all of Broadway Terrace from Mountain to the top and in areas
below that the very first Priority. It is increasingly DANGEROUS. When will the city commit to
doing this??!!

Not until there are 100 more pot holes fixed.
Please keep the reports coming!! They seem to get fixed when reported.
Perhaps when the cost of fixing gets higher then the cost of repaving it will get done. I've been meaning to sit on the hood of my wife's car and drive up the street taking pictures of them all at once!

Unfortunately, as I have mentioned elsewhere, the pattern I have documented over the last 17 years is that the City waits for a fatality or major high-cost injury accident, cyclists hitting pot holes the last two (one fatal on Skyline, the other a $3.4 million brain injury on Mountain), prior to their deciding to fix the holes. It is not right. It is not proactive. But it is how they roll.

Therefore, you have to wait until someone has a major injury or dies - and then they will fix your street. Or, you can wait the 84-year schedule of road repairs.

City of Oakland Broadway Terrace is falling apart. Simple pot hole repairs are not doing the trick anymore. Please consider repaving this street and properly marking NO Parking areas. I would hate to see what happens if we ever have a fire up here.

Broadway Terrace has a Pavement Condition Index (PCI) score of less than 40 (100 being perfect). OakDOT needs to pay attention to potholes on Broadway Terrace because failing to do so, allows the street to deteriorate faster. The street is also a major access and egresss for evacuation and response and therefore it needs to be given priority according to the Fire Department.

BWT is undoubtedly a disgrace to the city. But more than that the potholes are dangerous for many reasons. I have seen streets in other parts of the city that have much less traffic and are in better condition being paved. We need to keep the pressure on the city. Voting is one way, but speaking up is another.

There are 42 votes to fix here and that is a lot of neighbors who are concerned. Broadway Terrace is not on the City of Oakland OakDOT three year 2019-2022 repave list and the pavement condition will only deteriorate much further during that period. Residents along Thornhill Drive started a petition a couple of years ago and received over 700 signatures. The petition along with a lot of lobbying of OakDOT and Councilmembers Thao and Kalb, including the low Pavement Condition Index score, helped get Thornhill on the OakDOT repave list for repaving in 2020. Maybe a similar extensive lobbying effort along Broadway Terrace would help?

Broadway Terrace is downright dangerous and getting worse all the time...
For example there is one area at the Big Curve (about 10000 BT) which is literally
starting to slide down the hill. When the rains come some unlucky vehicle will
be flipped off the road when that vehicle hits it.. And that is just one of many
DANGEROUS areas. The city of Oakland faces big time liability for failing
to REPAVE Broadway Terrace from the Warren freeway to the top!

Make sure to make a claim for any tire, wheel, and alignment damage to any all ALL vehicles that encountered this pothole.

I agree with all of my neighbors who have so far responded. BWT MUST be repaved, at least from Mountain to Skyline Blvd. I don't mean quick-and-dirty pothole fixes, which last about 4-5 months max. We DO pay a lot of money in prop taxes, and while I recognize the need to spread out the wealth, it's also absolutely unfair that those who pay the most have the least attention given to the often hazardous condition of the road (especially but not limited to the winter). Who should we lobby or appeal to to finally get something done within my lifetime (est. 10-15 more years)??? Please address this continuing problem on BWT.

Potholes on Broadway Terrace ALL need to be fixed. Someone (thank you) has sprayed white circles around them. Helps us miss them, but causes dangerous swerving maneuvers. Easy for the city to spot them so they can fix them. BWT is a major feeder road for many residents. It is a high traffic area. None of this is new to the city, but just wanted to add my cry to the others here.
