Subject: Re: Scotch Broom @ Shepherd Canyon PWA Corporate Yard

    Hello Fire Marshal Arriola,

I am following up with you and Vince on the issue of the scotch broom between the PWA Shepherd Canyon Corporate Yard and the Montclair Railroad Trail (also an emergency evacuation trail). We need a plan to address the broom matter. To help get the process started, I will be submitting a request to the PWA Call Center today asking for them to initiate a work request within the City 311 system. I can also help OFD mobilize community support for additional OFD resources if that will help.

Two other items that I chew on Vince annually about:

    1. The grasses in the Open Areas above Shepherd Canyon Sports Field are fast drying out. Is there a date for arrival of the goats to clear those areas?

    2. Roadside clearance along many portions of Shepherd Canyon Road occurred in April. Some areas, a small portion, were not cleared and some cleared areas are experiencing re-growth. Is there a plan to address those areas?

Lastly, the fire prevention outreach and education and Vegetation Inspection season seems to be moving forward very well here in the Hills. I appreciate your leadership efforts and the work of Manny, Travis, Vince and the rest of your team.

The metal guardrail on the east side of the driveway to Fire Station #24 has been damaged. There is also a metal sign next to the guardrail that was damaged.

  • 6600 Snake Rd Oakland, CA, 94611, USA - Montclair
The City needs to repaint the roadway yellow striping in the repaired area in and around 6600 Snake Road and also for most of Snake Road from Colton up to Thornhill. In addition, the "porta potty" should be removed, and the erosion on the hillside near the repaired area should be addressed so it does not get larger during the next rain season.

A large crack occurred in the street. The crack needs to be filled sealed to prevent larger cracking of the road surface.
