Hello,

I need some clarification on the law regarding required distance a vehicle is to park from a homeowners driveway. I have a neighbor who continuously parks either blocking or partial blocking part of my driveway entrance. It is ridiculous that I must maneuver my vehicle in and out of my own driveway so as to not hit the vehicle that is parked to close. I am attaching a photo taken today (April 28th at 7:35pm) showing the vehicle too close (actually blocking a portion) of my driveway.

I know it is frustrating, but seriously town if Kearny should do something about parking, at least they should allow to park on yellow lines during night hours. There is serious parking space issue in this town but seems town just want taxes but don't want to provide proper parking facility. I live on Devon St, and on crosssections there are more than 20 feets of yellow lines, that's ridiculous, every night helpless people who don't get parking has to park on those lines and they ended up getting the ticket.
By the way return to your issue, I know it is frustrating for you to every time drive in or out carefully because he is using partial driveway.

There is no exact measurement in Title 39 related to driveways. Obviously from your picture the vehicle is encroaching on your driveway in violation of Title 39:4-138d. If this occurs again call the Kearny Police Department and an officer will respond to issue the appropriate summons. If you would like, contact KPD traffic and we can look into the DPW painting driveway lines. As far as parking on the yellow line this is a safety issue for emergency vehicle who need to make turns at intersection. It is also a violation to park in this area under Title 39:4-138e.
