04/15/2014 While a volunteer from the bicycle community has temporarily cleaned up the bike lanes again, a permanent solution by the city is needed. Is the city waiting for a lawsuit, after a cyclist is injured (or worse), to do something about this?
04/15/2014 Here’s another “after” pic. The do-it-yourself cleanup was from Eva Street down to the Green Tree Run entrance. Just a reminder to Mayor Nutter and Councilman Jones - this is still within the city limits.
01/18/2015 The bike lanes and the storm water drains on Shawmont Avenue (from Eva Street down to Nixon Street) are again covered with debris. Could the Philly Streets Department please address this recurring problem? Again, do Mayor Nutter and Councilman Jones even know that this is still in the city limits? The narrow bike lanes and speeding motor vehicles are dangerous enough for cyclists, but this is ridiculous. Has Philly311 been informed about this problem? In the meantime, a volunteer from the bicycle community has partially corrected this recurring problem.
There was a guy on the road yesterday shoveling the crap from the bike lanes onto the dirt next to the sidewalk and a truck with brush attachments following up.
12/11/2018 Thanks for the comment Valleygreen! Apparently, last Saturday, there was a guy from the bicycle community using a snow shovel to clean up the bike lane on upper Shawmont.
03/14/2020 - New year, same problem, same useless mayor and city government. Again a member of the bicycle community had to clean up the bike lane on Shawmont Avenue.
