The buildings stairs and the mail boxes force people into the tree wells. The dirt is compacted as much as two inches in some areas. There is not the required three feet for sidewalks so shouldn't they have tree grates?

I don't know how wheelchairs can pass those stairs safely.

Yes and the rounded out bottom stair that’s juts out onto the sidewalk! It’s nuts. Parents with children in strollers have to be strong enough to lift the stroller or carriage up out of the tree well while pushing forward to keep moving on this ridiculously crowded and horribly engineered section of Bergen Avenue sidewalk. Makes you think nobody cares what happens to pedestrians trying to navigate this mess. Thank you very much for reporting the problem.
