When you press the Walk button, you must wait for the system to cycle to Walk.
People that press the button then immediately walk across are asking for trouble.

Many issues here. Traffic signals are located too far BEYOND the intersection, walk lights are automatically invoked for a twenty four hour period Friday night to Saturday night which creates even more light running. Lastly the smart light sensors do not work properly. These issues apply to many other intersections in the city snarling traffic.

Yesterday a school bus came barreling through long after the light had changed and the people on Harrison Street had already started to turn. It was scary.

This is the story of New Haven - at many, many intersections. Red light cameras in CT have been shot down before due to ACLU protests about privacy, and the NHPD never seems to enforce traffic violations like red light running, speeding and aggressive driving (big issues here), so it keeps happening. The powers that be here turn a blind eye and allow this to go on. I hate leaving the house here, and won't stay here in New Haven for the long run, paying taxes.

Has anyone noticed the location of the traffic signals? Why are they located well BEYOND the intersection? Therein lies the problem - they actually should be reversed/turned around so they are closer to the stop bar (I know, what's that?!) The traffic experts believe the lights are positioned properly but unfortunately we mere mortals have to deal with the traffic signals in the real world. So much to fix...
