There needs to be a crosswalk across Whitney Ave to Audubon St. There are several businesses along Whitney at Audubon, and many people need to cross the road at Audubon to access the music school, Creative Arts Workshop, etc. The only other places to cross are Grove and Trumbull streets and this is very inconvenient.

Numerous people have posted this request, and last week someone painted a do-it-yourself crosswalk at the intersection. But NH transportation dept says it is a dangerous spot for a crosswalk. http://www.newhavenindependent.org/index.php/archives/entry/guerrilla_crosswalk_appears_on_whitney/
Surely there is a solution that the "experts" and the people who use the street can agree on?
