I think it is an issue as well! There is another bench at Hermit Street and Ridge Avenue. Ha... at least the city knows who to send the bill to for their removal.
It's sickening how many of these ugly intrusions are!!! The people plopping them down in plain sight have guts! I think we should do a CL curb alert and encourage anyone who wants a bench to just go pick it up!
Not everyone is educated enough to understand how aesthetics in public places has a positive or negative effect on communities. With that in mind, ever wonder why you do not see garish billboard benches that blare advertisements in "nicer" neighborhoods like Chestnut Hill, Lower Merion and the like? Those neighborhood do not allow it, and when you live or visit them, you get the sense of a better neighborhood. This is not the forum for a lesson in civics, but if you don't understand a problem, you should sit quietly while the adults talk.
The new Streets Commissioner should be elected Mayor for taking on this issue! They are disappearing and it is like a breath of fresh air! Cheers to Commish Dave!

Here is a photo of the bench @ Henry and Walnut. These benches are ALL OVER Roxborough, up and down Ridge Avenue!
Are they really allowed to just plop an ugly bench that is serving as a big advertisement ANYWHERE?
Am I the only one who thinks this is an issue?
