W Eagle Lake Dr & Hemlock Ln N Maple Grove, MN, 55369, USA - Maple Grove
I walk my child to Cedar Island every morning for school and the last several weeks have seen an increase in people running the light headed both north and south on Hemlock at the crossing at W Eagle Lake Drive/school intersection. Not only are they running the red but they increase speed to do so and it is starting to feel very dangerous to cross there. They can't be following the posted school area speed limit either. What can be done to prevent something tragic occurring? Many families cross there morning and afternoon. Pedestrians definitely do not have the right of way here. Even when cars stop - often they are coming up so fast, you have no idea if they actually intend to. A police car is often at the fire station nearby - could one be posted near the intersection to help with this? Or more permanently - flashing pedestrian signs/lights to remind people?

This is the 2nd time I'm sent a complaint and I've been told other neighbors have too. This property looks like a garage dump. There's garbage bags everywhere and broken down vehicles. Embarrassing living in this neighborhood for 10 years. Was told someone would get back to me last time but no one did. Please help keep a good renter in Maple Grove.
  • 67th Ave N & Berkshire Ln N Maple Grove, MN, 55311, USA - Maple Grove

We have issues with vehicles not stopping for the stop signs at this intersection. There are multiple families with small children around this intersection, and there is an uptick in the number of vehicles not even slowing down coming through the neighborhood. Just tonight, two vehicles seemed to have some sort of altercation at the intersection of 67th and Berkshire, resulting in one vehicle driving up and around the intersection, over lawns, and losing part of their undercarriage on a landscaping rock. Thank the powers that be that wasn't a child!

    1) Part of this is due to the minimal signage directing traffic to Donahue Park North up by Annapolis Lane. There are constantly cars zipping down past the "Dead End" sign in my yard and then being surprised that there is no park access for vehicles at a dead end. They then zoom back the way they came. There needs to be better signage directing people where to go, because GPS directions do not care where the parking lot is. During the summer, we redirect multiple vehicles per week back towards the parking lot.

    2) Speed bumps would help bring drivers' attention back to the road while coming through the neighborhood. This would be helpful for both those unfamiliar with the area and those who habitually ignore safety precautions like stop signs and speed limits. There are no sidewalks, and there is a park that attracts walkers, children, cyclists, and people out with their pets. Drivers need to be reminded to slow down and keep an eye out, especially if they are distracted by conflicting GPS instructions and lack of decent signage towards the park. We have an upcoming street assessment, and speedbumps could easily be included. Until then, temporary speedbumps would be much appreciated by everyone who lives on this intersection.

    3) There are a few lamp style yard lights along Berkshire Ln N, and more to the North past the intersection would help drivers see pedestrians and where the street ends and yards begin in the evenings. This would also help pedestrians more safely access the park, as it gets late earlier than the park closes for a good part of the year.
