Excessive speed and reckless driving on Poquonock Avenue poses an extreme risk to pedestrians, bicyclists and motorists. It is particularly bad in the segment from Shay Street south to where sidewalks start (approximately Marshall St). Posted speed is 35 mph and this segment of the road has a dangerous curve, just north of Hobson Ave. Please!! monitor speed in this area, particularly during weekdays from 4-7 pm.

Because there are no sidewalks in this portion of Poquonock Ave, many people rely on the strip of grass just off the road. There is a lot of pedestrian traffic and with the grass so long, it makes walking very difficult. There are also many ticks in this area. My daughter had to walk through the grass on tuesday to get to Villaris Karate and picked up 10 ticks just in a single walk. This section of Poquonock is so dangerous for pedestrians so it is very important that pedestrians be able to safely walk against traffic.

Overgrown grass makes it difficult and dangerous for pedestrians who unfortunately have no sidewalk on this stretch of Poquonock Ave.

The absence of a walk signal for pedestrians and the absence of a cross walk at this intersection creates a dangerous situation for the large number of pedestrians crossing the intersection to/from the bus stop and price chopper and the river bend condos. The intersection is very intimidating for pedestrians because of the lack of a visible cross walk and walk signal. The lack of sidewalks on Poquonock Avenue contributes greatly to the unsafe situation for pedestrians.
