  • 19 Prospect Avenue Meriden, Connecticut - Meriden
The residents of 19 Prospect Avenue are parking vehicles on the street making it impossible for more than one vehicle to travel East (up the hill) or West (down the hill) at the same time. These vehicles are also making it difficult to turn into or exiting the street perpendicular to this house.

The problem of speeding cars, motorcycles, dirt bikes, quads, scooters, etc. has escalated (take a look at the burn out marks left on the road!). The residents of Gravel Street would appreciate if the MPD would set up radar; at this point, seeing a police officer in our area would be great!

Lucky us ... school started this week causing the speeding issue to increase. Thanks to a speeding school bus, my husband was almost killed yesterday afternoon pulling into our driveway. I guess the bus driver (who was speeding and tailgating) did not pay attention to the brake lights or the turn signal on my husband's vehicle. The bus driver had to slam on the brakes and barely missed rear-ending the vehicle. To make matters worse, after my husband turned into our driveway, the bus driver "flipped him off" and "floored" the gas and continued to speed down the road heading towards Nathan Hale.

How many times do not only myself but other residents complain about the speeding issue only to fall upon deaf ears? If either myself or my husband gets injured or killed pulling into our driveway, the blood will be on the City's hands.

Please, please, please do something about this issue!

The number of speeding cars on Gravel Street has gotten worse since most of the road construction is complete. What do the residents of Gravel Street have to do in order for the MPD to set up radar? If it's someone getting killed, that is bound to happen ... Pulling in and out of my driveway is getting more dangerous by the day. What is the sense of posting the speed limit if that said limit is not reinforced? Start during "school traffic" ... you're bound to pull over 95% of the vehicles traveling along my street in the mornings and afternoons. Some of the worse offenders are school bus drivers.

    Please, do something!

Why is it that every highway exit and entrance ramp to/from the City of Meriden is loaded with trash. Instead of the "Silver City" Meriden has become the "Trashy City". Wake up City leaders and contact the correct agency to clean up the filth!

What happened to the much needed "No Turn On Red" signs located at both ends of Gravel Street?

Turning right onto East Main Street from the Gravel Street red light, especially in the morning when students and commuters depend upon the walk signal to cross one of the busiest intersections in the City, is bound to cause a tragedy. Turning right onto Baldwin Avenue from Gravel Street, especially since road and bridge construction has started again, is another area where a tragedy is bound to happen.

    What is the City thinking?

The residents of Gravel Street and the surrounding neighborhood(s) were assured by City officials that during the Maloney High School Construction the area would remain clean of/from debris from the worksite. To date, Gilbane Building Company has not once swept the street to remove the inches of dirt, which has now turned into mud, and has made its way onto my lawn, into my driveway, garage and home. Please insist that Gilbane keep their promise and sweep the street daily.
