The City of Raleigh does not install “Children at Play” signs. These signs are not a standard sign recognized in the Federal Highway Administration’s Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (adopted by city council) and thus not approved to be installed in the city’s right of way. These signs tend to promote a false sense of security to parents and encourage children to play in the street. The city has a large number of parks and an extensive greenway system which is a safer environment for children to play in.
