If we had ward councilors that actually did what they get paid to do? Care, Get involved? Address Issues? ....... ( Not you Councilor Courchesne) we'd have a much better city.

Thank you for that. I requested a meeting with the PD and the public safety subcommittee to address this issue directly with the residents. This will give you the opportunity to speak directly to those that are responsible for addressing it. It’s May 19th at 6:30. If you check the call logs, you will see that our officers are following up with traffic complaints and doing enforcement. This will be passed on to officers that work the area.

Councilor Courchesne can you or someone from the city please post that meeting info on the Face Book Group "Chicopee Area Community Forum" ? That would help create more awareness and hopefully get more people to these meetings.

Yes, I am going to create an event and share it across the boards. Unfortunately when I did it last year none of the Facebook/keyboard warriors showed up. Hoping for a better response this time. Please know that the PD is doing everything they can. With the high call volume they receive and the randomness of the crime it is very difficult to combat. The best thing residents can do is call in when it happens. Even if there is not a car available to respond it creates data that can be analyzed for trends, then it becomes less random.

Understood. I appreciate our PD and thank them for their service. It can sometimes be a thankless job, especially this day and age.

The city should slip meeting info in with the electric bill. A lot of my older friends and neighbors aren't on F.B. (for obvious reasons) They would probably rather phone in vs. being there in person especially with covid.

I tried to have a meeting notice put in the electric bill previously but the administration would not fund it. The bill's are sent out by a private company in RI. I've not been shy in stating the city does a lousy job of notifying resident's of important meetings.

Productive meetings make people accountable.
