Anna, thank you for cleaning it out! Looks really good... Do you think there is an issue with how the drain is installed which is causing it to clog easily? The drain seems to be behind the curb a bit and set deep in the asphalt.

It would be good for someone from Public Works to check it out.

You are welcome, Roger! Drains need to be all of our responsibility. Public works sims can't keep up w/our storm drains citywide, especially as Nashville sits in top of a big ole slab of porous limestone, thus making storm drains like the one under discussion shift to being below street grade. Yep, subsequent repavings + shifting ground + fact that drain is near a now-under pavement spring = sunken storm drains. Solution? Bring it to attention of PWorks, absolutely. But in meantime, we see something wrong, we fix it.

I took another look at the drain now it is cleaned an it is at least 6 inches below the level of the street. Debris is collecting in the 6 inch whole which is the drain and causing it to clog often.

The biggest problem is this is a public safety issue. Someone on the street could step into the hole and fall.

The drain needs to be raised to street level.

Will someone from Metro please assess this problem? It would be greatly appreciated.

The storm drain continues to fill with debris and cause a risk of flooding. If needs to be raised to street level to solve the problem.
