Description
This curb cut should be painted red, as it no longer leads to a driveway (used to be 3050 Broadway). Now cars are parked here instead, blocking the view of the crosswalk and causing a safety issue for pedestrians. Please paint this curb cut red and then ticket anyone who continues to park here.

This issue has not yet been resolved and drivers continue to park here, blocking the view of the crosswalk. Please paint this no-longer used curb cut red (or add a curb and paint it red), and enforce the no-parking zone.
Over several days I have noticed that this red Passat (4DNL588) is most commonly parked in this spot, so the owner may also need to be notified to ensure that they do not continue to block the view of the crosswalk.

Again, nothing has been done to resolve this issue yet, and so I am reopening it again. A photo taken today of the curb cut in question is included.
I did get an email response from Bert Chang of Oakland PW stating that: "traffic engineering cannot fulfill your request because of the driveway depression in the sidewalk. City maintenance does not paint depressions in curb and it is the City’s standard practice to paint only raised curb faces."
However, there are hundreds of other defunct curb cuts all around the city that are indeed painted red, and I found and sent photos of three within just a couple blocks of this issue as examples and emailed them to Bert with no response.
I as well would prefer that the curb be raised, but I have already made that request and was told that the property owner should have been required to do so when the driveway was closed, but the city failed to enforce that requirement. The easy and inexpensive thing that the city can do RIGHT NOW is to simply paint the curb red, so that if anyone continues to park there there can be ticketed.
With less effort than went into reviewing and denying this request multiple times, the work could have been done already. Please stop dragging your feet and just paint the curb red.
