There are several places in Troy that have the pedestrian signs yet the pedestrians feel that it is their sole right to cross anytime, without looking out for traffic. You have to your senses when crossing the street, the first sense is COMMON SENSE.

I drove threw there the other morning I lady walked right out in front of me I slammed on my brakes just stopping in time. She picked up the sign and threw it at my car. said she has the right of way Your right if you think THE HUMAN body can take a 3500 lbs of metal hitting . YOU WOULD BE DEAD AND THEN RUIN MY LIFE TOO

To you walkers that don't drive , it take time to stop a car

Yes, what a problem. But as I was told by one of the City Officials, and I quote "But there is such a lovely view of the river". Hahahaha Our tax Dollars hard at work. Anyone who honestly believes City Officials care anything about what the tax payers really want is delusional.

This is a very handicap unfriendly place to put a City Hall. If you are a Senior Citizen, use a walker, on crutches, etc... you are out of luck. Troy City Hall is unavailable to you. The 30 minute parking limit is also unreasonable - it takes me 30 minutes just to get from my car to the front of the building on that narrow sidewalk and long ramp.
Also handicap unfriendly in Troy - those pretty brick crosswalks. Expensive to install, and difficult to walk or drive on. My car skidded into the intersection a snowy day because they are slippery when wet.
Who is making these decisions?

It hasn't improved much, if at all- People just ignore the cross walk sign even with people actively crossing. Guess this issue is a moot point. To all the drivers that complained about my complaint - I DRIVE to work daily and I do allow people to cross when I am not at work. The law is the law for everyone - no one is special. I shouldn't have to thank people for obeying the law - which is stated clearly on the crosswalk sign in the center of the road- but I often do because it is so rare to have people actually stop.

Additionally, the 15 mph speed limit at the bend from King street to 2nd (heading North) is NEVER followed nor enforced. I just know I take my life into my own hands almost every time I cross.

Oh and for Miss the answer is walk to the light - yeah that is not the answer as there is always traffic coming down Hutton turning South onto 2nd - so your insult was just that - not even constructive as all the extra healthy walking gets me in the same position as if I were to cross at the PROVIDED cross walk.

FOLLOW THE LAW PEOPLE - is that really too much to ask?? Because I can put money on it whom ever is unfortunate enough to get hit within that cross walk will have a field day with your auto insurance. That company could technically stick you with that bill and claim since you violated a state law (with a reminder sign ta-boot) they can and will refuse to pay the claims.

Since no one seems to care enough to try to fix this - I am closing the issue and moving on.

One final thought - as a driver who has to cross the road daily... PEDESTRIANS - USE THE CROSS WALKS!!! Nothing aggravates me more when I see individuals (generally with kids - great example you are teaching btw) attempting to cross wherever and when ever they feel like it. I am know to point at the cross walk and keep on driving. I know a person who was hit (not at the Hedley) and was not in the cross walk - driver didn't even get a ticket - only the injured pedestrian incurred a ticket.
