Speed samples on the Forest Hill Ave corridor were collected. The average speed was 38.14 mph. Although there are a few speeders our samples show that is not the norm for the majority of Forest Hill Ave motorists. No changes in the posted speed limit are recommended. I would just like to mention one of the main reasons i have witnessed the increase in speed in this area is due to the 40 mph sign right after the school right beyond Jahnke Rd. It is not a safe place to have an increase in speed and it is also an indication that a lower speed limit should be considered. My observation is that 40 mph without the next traffic light at Bliley from Jahnke is pretty extreme by the time they get to powhite.

9/10/2014 - Service Review: Richmond Traffic Engineering Mgmt Team (20020932133) noted as of 5/28/2014 that speed samples on the Forest Hill Ave corridor were collected. The average speed was 38.14 mph. Although there are a few speeders our samples show that is not the norm for the majority of Forest Hill Ave motorists. No changes in the posted speed limit are recommended. As a resident of Forest Hill, I appreciate the investigation into speeding and your information on what has been and can be done. I would like to point out that it is 25 mph before Jahnke. This is a school zone before Jahnke rd. For a school zone, 38 mph average speed is ok? The 35mph speed limit is allowable on the 5100 block of Forest Hill past Jahnke and past the school. I imagine that her request for speed check was for the 25mph section of Jahnke Rd where the city crosswalk passes over Forest Hill Avenue to the middle school. (Just a side note: The speed limit rises to 40 mph two blocks past Jahnke (5200/5300?) You have three speed limits within 3 blocks of one another on Forest Hill ave.)
