Description

There is a granite slab at the main entrance of 15 Notre Dame Ave encroaching on public property (granted it is affixed to a structure
which entirely lies on private property) that is posing a threat of injury to pedestrians. Because this is at shin level and there is no
riser under this tread, it can cause very painful injuries. The situation is aggravated by a nearby tree on the sidewalk narrowing pedestrian passage, forcing them to walk closer to the hazard in case of oncoming pedestrian traffic. People pushing strollers are
especially endangered because of their limited visibility at foot level. Please see the attached photo.

This hazard has been installed by contractors on March 8 and 9.

I understand that building code requires a certain tread size for stairs. For this particular situation the best solution seems to be installing a riser that is flush with the edge of the tread so that if somebody accidentally walks into this sidewalk obstruction then they would hit their foot instead of their shin, an area that is much less vulnerable to impact.
