We all are cognizant of this winters severe winter, however we have had worse in the past 6 years with as much or more in yeah amount of total inches. I just want to commend the previous administrations efforts in regards to snow plowing, pre treatment of roads and the repair of potholes. After moving to Islip in the 60's,bi was always ready to be critical of the highway departments efforts. However, I was never able to comment negatively in the past. This is the first time I am doing so. The snow plowing was horrible. The streets were a unsafe mess. The pothole problem is kit being addressed. I saw one inexperienced worker alone on a small truck filling the holes with cold patch. When I asked him if this was a permanent solution, he replied " call Tom Owens the Commissioner. He makes the big bucks". You can't make this stuff up!
