At 2:30pm on Apr. 1st, I biked to physical therapy (Good Shepherd Penn) at 3624 Market St, close to 37th. No bike racks in sight, so I locked it to a parking sign pole, being careful that it didn't impede access to pedestrians or to the parking kiosk. An hour later, I found attached to my bike a large orange "Violation" sticker; the sticker had no city office, ordinance, or other identification to indicate its source or the alleged violation; but its text essentially threatened that my bike would be confiscated the next time. Unfortunately, I didn't take a photo & I now can't find the sticker. I don't believe my bike violated any law & am very concerned about the harassment. I don't want anyone taking my bike, esp. when I'm careful about where I lock it.

Please contact the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia at 215-242-9253 or you can e-mail them at Bike@bicyclecoalition.org. They are located at 1500 Walnut Street, Suite 1107.
The Bicycle Coalition tags bikes that have been left in center city bike racks for extended periods. The tag includes a warning that the bikes will be removed in 7 days -- the actual span is a minimum of 7 days but could be longer. Most of these bicycles have suffered significant damage, are missing parts, etc.
Thank you. (mb)
