Massive square sheet of ice with no path through or around on walking path between Broad and Asylum downtown next to Bushnell Park. Path is relatively clear except for this spot. I biked over it tonight on the way home from the train station and it was horrifying. US Army reserve captain coming the other way in full boots also having trouble. Please salt and remove if possible. Thanks.

I have made the City of Hartford DPW aware of this multiple times in the past. Not the City, nor the State, nor Amtrak will take responsibility for this with any consistency. All seem to point fingers at each other for whose responsibility this bridge is that links Bushnell Park with the area behind the Legislative Office Building. It's lazy and irresponsible of all parties.

When possible can someone take a picture of the area and attach? We will research who is the owner of the parcel and that should determine who is responsible for taking care of this area.

Thank you very much for the pics and the details of the location!! I just forwarded to the DPW Director to see what can be done and find out who is responsible for clearing. It looks like someone is doing some clearing of this area.

2/17/14 - ....and it's still there, no one's touched it. I'm kind of excited to be the one who closes this issue on Friday once it hits 50 degrees and finally the ice sheet will be taken care of. Almost fell on it tonight walking my bike over it, two young kids were walking the other way, also having trouble.

I found out this path is owned by the State and will try to find out who at the State needs to maintain it.

Still a dangerous patch of ice across the path last night. If they did salt it they did a quick job. I'm guessing it was mostly the warm weekend weather. DIY maintenance program in order.

We have confirmed this parcel belongs to the State of CT. Our apologies this is taking such a long time to rectify.

The immediate issue has been fixed thanks to Mother Nature, not the State of CT. As noted, this has been an ongoing issue of maintenance neglect.

Good to know Mother Nature came to the rescue, we are not going to close this case until we have assurance the state will take responsibility for this parcel in the future. We are working on it!
