I saw this discussed here before. THIS is a perfect example of Ansonia's fake and ineffective "street parking ban" during snow storms. I was visiting a friend tonight and this picture says it all.

I had to stop for almost a minute in the road. WHY? Because the car pictured is trying to back into a snow filled parking space on the street. The driver spins and spins and has to make several attempts to shove their car into a snow packed space on the side of Vine Street.

WHY? Because ONCE AGAIN Ansonia didn't enforce it's parking ban during a snow storm so the streets are not properly cleared by the plows and now there is a mess everywhere. You can barely pass down some streets in this area because parked cars, which were NOT supposed to be parked on the street during a snow storm, prevented the town crew from removing snow creating roads that are not safe. No enforcement (again!), no warnings put on cars (again!) and no towing (again!)

This photo and story has been sent to Channel 3, 8, 30 and all major newspapers. Maybe THEY can ask the administration in Ansonia why not enforcing the law, leaving streets full of snow and risking accidents for law abiding citizens trying to drive after a storm is OK.

Tell me about it. They pick and choose. There is a late model Lexus parked halfway in the middle of the road with the snow between two "no parking anytime" signs since yesterday on Woodbridge. No ticket, no stops, no nothing. I'm waiting for someone to crash into it as the speed is never enforced to begin with.

I agree with other posts their is no excuse for this city, or any other city for that matter, to not have a city wide parking ban in effect, these streets are horrible their is plenty of parking areas around the city to put vehicles linette park.colony park, east main lot ,main st Lot .nolan field, to name a few,the other problem is people putting the snow in the road after the plow has passed through DISGUSTED

Welcome to the town of subsidized and the ever-growing RENTAL COMMUNITY as the times of home ownership in town are done due to NO EFFECTIVE ACTION on industrialized clean up and lack of incoming business interests.
The rental and subsidized interests are only expected to grow TEN-FOLD as existing homeowners give into the rental income aspect thus this original problem of CLOGING ANSONIA'S STREETS and the 2 to 6 family tenant structures existing on these streets. I did the same to reap the benefit because the city took no action on a industrial mess 1/2 mile from my home which many of my neighbors were tired of looking at. Everyone in these tenant assigned homes owns a car today. Many of these homes have a 1 bedroom apartment with 4 sleeping in the same bedroom. This is not to mention all of the undesirable lifestyles coming in droves with sociological problems for the sole reason Ansonia still offers an affordable rental base and has local mental support offices conveniently located. Unfortunately Ansonia still has all of its sins still staring the public dead in their face from as far back as late 70’s and early 80s when they should have been corrected.

I completely agree with you Tom; but you left out one thing. Maybe if the absentee landlords did somewhat of a background check on these tenants and showed up besides to collect the rent, this could also help. The 3 family house next to me has one two bedroom apartment; 2 adults and 6 kids live in there and think that my backyard (I own) is part of their rental. No, no and no. And do you think that that landlord ever got back to me about putting up a fence (not even sharing the price of it, just the fact I am going to do it?). Of course not. At least these people aren't the crackheads that they had here before in an illegal apartment that they finally evicted for non payment of rent (forget about the multiple times their other tenants and OWNERS called the police).

There is no way that you can remove every car from the streets in valley towns which have narrow streets. Odd-even parking is the way to go. After day one of the storm you have people move cars to the opposite side of the road so it can be plowed then returned to the other side. If cars are not moved after day one they should be towed. US free trade aggrements spelled doom for most of the Naugatuck valley and the fact that more people are on the government dole means that they are not paying property taxes and are a burden to locals governments.

One side parking. Ansonia is the same side all winter if the plow guys come buy and clean up the empty side and figure out how to do the corners the rest is up to who ever is parking on the other side it would also help if the plows wouldn't push snow toward the side where we are allowed to park. Someone needs to learn how to plow I just came home from an appt to more snow blocking my driveway than yesterday when it actually snowed I call that spite full and the corners are still not done I had to use the snowblower to get in my driveway a day after the storm I think if they who plow work as best ad possible with those of us who live/ park on the other side. Also I wish to say not all the guys who work for Ansonia Public Works are that bad some of the guys actually do a very good job

at approximately 9:30 this morning the plow went down Woodbridge Avenue heading towards Beaver Brook. Thanks to him, all the snow that was in the road was thrown right back into the sidewalk and of course is freezing. All the kids who had to wait for the bus or to get to the bus had to walk in the street. What is more aggravating is that all the sidewalks from my house to the corner were totally cleared. I also question to a point each ward has two alderman and I'm sure other city officials cops pub works city Hall employees drive around and see these issues yet it seems no one reports any of this to who it should be I personzlly feel the city should do away with public works ax it is. Outsource some local guys who have s legal budiness their own insurance who are willing to work and do the job the way it should be it would save the city slot of money and I bet these jobs would be done much better and more professions like its time we taxpayers stop handing out paychecks for jobs improperlu done just a thought

Our new Public Works Super doesn't have any ties here (Milford)therefore not taking pride within the city.Just collecting a paycheck.Carmen could of taken over thus eliminating a high salary position.If he wanted to work he should have stayed with the DOT.The only good so far is the stiring up down there and accountability
